As it was raining again today, we decided to do another tour this morning instead of morning instead of lounging by the pool and the hot springs. We checked out the Don Juan Coffee and Chocolate tour. This was a great tour which takes you through the whole process from seed to final product for both chocolate and coffee. Of course they include free samples and a chance to make your own chocolate bar. One of the best features of the tour is that it takes place on a covered walk way. Of course rain settled down a bit and even a ray of sun popped through for a brief second.
This afternoon we set out for a sloth tour with Tours. Our guide Oscar is a high school biology teacher. He did not disappoint, we were able to locate 5 or 6 sloths, and a toucan as well as a huge iguana. It wasn’t until after the tour was complete that the rain started again. The tour ended at the Arenal Oasis Eco Lodge where we had a snack and were able to do some bird watching. There was also one eyelash viper snake spotted here, just hanging out. Thank goodness for the 300mm zoom lens. Here are just a few of those pictures. I will add a complete album when I get a chance to process the hundreds of photos I took.
We finished up the night at a great local and highly recommended restaurant in La Fortuna. Restaurante Nene’s did not disappoint. The ceviche is a traditional dish of Fish, lime, lemon, onion, chili pepper.
